0.1 Dressing up anything I could find. From the ages of two until twelve I put a dress on everything. Dolls, cats, plastic dinosaurs, wooden spoons, I knew no bounds.
0.2 School uniform. My formative years were spent in navy and gold, colours that I have trouble with to this day. This means that for a very long time, clothes that I chose myself felt very special. They still do.
0.3 Selfridges, Harvey Nicks, Harrods and Liberty Christmas windows every year.
0.4 Vivienne Westwood at Museum of London in 2000, the again at the V&A in 2005. Chanel at MOMA the same year.
0.5 Going past CSM Charing Cross Road on the bus and thinking “I want to go there”.
0.6 Visiting the old Commes Des Garcons shop on Conduit Street with my mum and never having seen anything like it, it was all blocks of colour and minimalism and a bit scary. I remember wanting one of the little leather wallets even back then.
0.7 Shopping in America. I wanted anything with a logo, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger or Abercrombie. Later, during my Gossip Girl phase (the books, of course) I went to Barney’s and was terrified by it.
0.8 My first ever designer purchase. Spending all my Christmas money in Selfridges on a Marc by Marc bag shaped like a pair of Aviator sunglasses. It was £109.
0.9 Deciding not to be emo anymore and no longer wearing clothes dictated by the music I pretended to like.
1.0 The Camden Fashion Mafia – putting on our fashion show, Magazine Thursdays at Pedro’s with chips, beans and a diet coke, all conversations with the girls to this day.
